My name is Sarah Torrence but I have always been called Sally. I have been teaching for 37 years, of which the last 30 have been @ SJS. I began teaching fourth grade at St. John the Evangelist School in 1983 then transferred to first grade at the Little School in 1986.
My career took root in the public schools where I substituted extensively in academic grades K-8, as well as Art, Music and P.E. in surrounding towns/cities. I was hired as a long term sub in first grade, a full time Special Education Aide and a permanent position in third grade prior to teaching in a Catholic school. One year of teaching at St. Francis Xavier in Waterbury prepared the bridge between public and Catholic schools. I graduated from Mount Saint Mary College with a B.A. in Elementary Education. I graduated from Central CT ST University and earned a M.S. in Early Childhood Education. |
